...when did they grow so big?

As I did my nightly rounds----tucking everyone in, making sure everyone is warm, and outside doors are locked----I couldn't believe how big my children are now. It makes me sad and happy at the same time. How is that for making any sense?

This is my baby---the little one. What happened??? She is already starting to lose the chubby-cheeked baby look

And seriously...I gave birth to that? He is huge. I can't believe how quickly time can pass. Where have my babies gone? Don't misunderstand me...I am looking forward to every passing minute and getting to know the new stages, but I never saw too far past the diapers and (advance apologies to any guys that read this) breastfeeding. I am in unknown territory now.
...But I had absolutely nothing to do with this one.

  3. I am glad you laughed...I didn't want people to think I am too sappy, after all. I am, but I don't want anyone to think it ;)

  4. Very funny last part...and the beginning...totally understandable...I can't believe how big our guy is...and he is only 13 months...

  5. Sr. Egel--see? That is exactly what shocked me. I keep saying "only" as well. That they are "only" such and such an age. Can you believe that 14 months ago Sammy wasn't a daily presence in your life. This is always the part that gets me!

  8. I LOVE that song from Fiddler on the Roof, "Sunrise, Sunset", it reminds me of this post. The lyrics are so poignant. "
Is this the little girl I carried?
Is this the little boy at play?
    I don't remember growing older,
    When did they?
When did she get to be a beauty? When did he grow to be so tall? Wasn't it yesterday when they were small."
Am I such a cheese for quoting lyrics? That is exactly how life is though and I think the same thing when I check on my kids at night before I go to bed. Sweet pictures!

  9. Gustogirl: You are so not a cheese. Here is the song I think of, to prove it:

Where are you going, my little one, little one? Where are you going, my baby, my own?
Turn around and you're two. Turn around and you're four. Turn around and you're a young girl going out of the door.
Turn around. Turn around. Turn around and you're a young girl going out of the door.
Where are you going, my little one, little one? Little dirndls and petticoats, where have you gone?
Turn around and you're tiny. Turn around and you're grown. Turn around and you're a young wife with babes of your own.

There are also lyrics for boys, as well, but I couldn't find them. I also have to go one step cheesier when I say I have had tears in my eyes when I have heard the song. Especially when I know that the woman I heard singing it never lived to see her children fully grow up. Side note: dirndls are German (etc.) clothing.

  11. ure family is sooo cute! i pray that i can make as pretty babies as you and Edgard have.

Thank you soooo much for the comment! I'm 5'8. it helps to spread the fat out....and its distributed fairly evenly too...the nearly 30 lb loss makes me look less stuffed and more curvy...which is how i got to be soo big to begin with bc...as you can see, *sometimes* i dont look half bad if the clothes fit and flatter.

  12. Like you, I can hardly believe the way my own children have grown. But I love the fact that the love life and have good friends.

I could not ask for more....

  13. David: exactly...just to pass down the things that are valuable...then no matter how fast they grow you can be happy!

  14. Lady T. if your babies are even half as adorable as you them you have nothing to worry about.
5'8" ?!? I am not sure I need to lose weight now...maybe just grow 4 more inches. You look great!

  15. I loved the last line!

    And the pictures? Priceless...

They do grow up sooo fast. I can hardly carry my oldest son to bed anymore (but I refuse to wake him up because it's admitting something I'm just not ready for yet...)
