upside down

This is Irene's drawing of her brother. She brought it to me yesterday. It is her first attempt at drawing a specific person. I told her she should show it to her brother and she toddled off to proudly display her work. Anthony laughed a bit more than was polite, but apparently that was the reaction she was after because she looked as happy as a clam. I then told her to show Daddy next. She went off immediately, but on the way, I could hear little mutterings coming from her. I only caught the tail end but as she looked down at the picture she said "....maybe it's upside down....?"

diminutive

Is it just me or is it really annoying to read about some poor slob in Better Homes and Gardens who has painstakingly remodeled his or her "tiny" home...only to turn the page to find that their postage stamp of a house is actually upwards of 2000 square feet?
This is my open statement to all those people who think they are living in a small house. 3800 Square feet is not a cottage. 2000 square feet is not space challenged. And, yes, if you are one or two people complaining about living in a house that is 1800 square feet...you are indeed, a whiner!

Am I crazy or does anyone else find this absurd? Come on...weigh in. Let us know what you
think---good or bad---in the comments. Does this bother you as well? What size of a house do you live in? Do you feel your house is too large, too small, or just right?
---And just for the record...the four of us share a measly 865 square feet. That is roughly 215 a piece. And we are living to tell the tale---without complaining.

its all uphill from here

Here are a smattering of pictures from the first of December when we cut our Christmas tree. We had a fun time and hope to do it next year. Here are the things I know for next year: Prepare to get stuck in the snow early and hike the rest of the way. And, oddly enough, if we hike a mile and a half, cut a gorgeous Christmas tree, play in the snow and take wonderful pictures....the fun ain't over...we will still have the mile and a half hike back to our car. I also need to realize that a 3 mile hike will not kick my metabolism into hyper drive. Translation: I cannot eat like a pig for the entire holiday season and cover it by saying "I can eat this _____ (insert food of choice: piece of cake, candy cane, cheese log, entire gingerbread village) because I hiked three miles last week--month--year". I also have learned that my children are immune to my insanity but after around 6 hours they might start to whimper a little...but only after the cold has mentally broken them down.
I can't wait for next year!
Fantastic four

The rest of the nutty group.

Best friends:
Chris, Susie(with the hat she vowed never to wear again), Andrew and Peter.

Edgard and Irene...

Cutting the tree

Mr. and Mrs. Loco and family..

See...We'uns are still in love...

More proof that Irene is channeling her hairstyle from a different time

For more proof...click here and here and, oh yeah, here.

This is what it would look like if Edgard and I morphed into one fabulous Uber-parent. His huge feet and hair covered body, paired with my fabulous hourglass figure and keen sense of style....HOT!

Aren't they wonderful...I think so, anyway...

Isn't he cute? I think so, anyway...

the other side of the door

Do my friends know me?

Here is a picture of my spare house key. I entrusted it to my best friend and her husband for---well---just in case.

The back is hard to read, so I quote: "Because there will be a day when she locks herself out"

I would be mad at them if I hadn't read it while I was locked out.

three years with princess irene

Here I am am three years ago, bursting with baby.

Obviously we were all thrilled that we were having a girl this time around. As you can see, we were all excited for our own personal reasons.

And then she was here....

Anthony couldn't have been more ecstatic about his new sister.

And she was plainly thrilled to become a part of our family.

First birthday

Second birthday.

Could we be anymore blessed than this???

I am truly thankful to God.
