Here I am am three years ago, bursting with baby. Obviously we were all thrilled that we were having a girl this time around. As you can see, we were all excited for our own personal reasons. And then she was here.... Anthony couldn't have been more ecstatic about his new sister. And she was plainly thrilled to become a part of our family. First birthday Second birthday. Could we be anymore blessed than this??? I am truly thankful to God.

.....already?

treasury of david

The Treasury of David by Charles Haddon Spurgeon "The Treasury of David is a superb literary achievement. Eric Hayden, pastor of the Metropolitan Tabernacle a century after Spurgeon's ministry began there, calls this work "Spurgeon's magnum opus." Spurgeon's wife said that if Spurgeon had never written any other work, this would have been a permanent literary memorial." Quoted from The Spurgeon Archive .

ninety-seven more than three

I am so excited that this is my one-hundredth post. I am sure that seems like nothing to all of you seasoned bloggers but I am excited nevertheless. The name of my blog is due to my intense problem of procrastination. Even now I should be cleaning my house. I truly have never done anything for more than a matter of about three days so I felt that my blog would suffer a similar demise. Now you understand why I am so happy that I have made it this far. There are more things that I want to accomplish for more than "three days" but now my little success here makes me feel as if I will be more capable to accomplish it. On another subject---yesterday Anthony started his 4th AWANA year. I am very excited that he has a chance to take part in this. Up to now he has memorized 180+ bible verses and is on his way to become an approved workman for Christ. The difference with this year is that about a month ago he accepted Christ. I always told him what was what, but never pushed...

what I have deduced...

So I wanted to really get down to the bottom of what it was that was contributing to my previous dank mood. I am usually so happy and I can turn any bad situation into an adventure, so I was at a loss to be able to explain what was causing this. I also had a hard time understanding why it was so longstanding. I had been feeling like this for months. Well, it finally came to a head last Sunday. I was forced to really stand back and look at all my faults (we even dragged out a few of Edgard's for good measure) and I really analyzed what had caused all those heavy months. In a nutshell: *I need to lose weight . I know this little revelation comes as a shock to everyone. Here is a little story for you all. Last summer I decided to lose weight. I started out at 191.5 lbs. I went to a weight loss clinic where they give you a well balanced diet plan and counseling. They gave me a plan that consisted of 1000 calories ( yeah, I know, don't say it ). I did well for one month.....

forgone conclusion

So flitting around, from blog to blog last night, I came upon a blog of an adult who had been raised in church. They never questioned what had been spoon fed to them until they got on their own. This is a huge fear of mine. I do not want my children to unquestionably believe what I tell them and then one day be confused as to why they believed it in the first place. I want them to have such a knowledge of my faith, that they make an informed decision for Christ. I think that quite a few people that grow up in a Christian home are taught what they believe but not ever shown how to really dig deeper into a true understanding of the tenets. My ultimate goal for my kids is to teach them doctrine, not "moralized" bible stories. I want them to be able to give an answer to everyone that asks (including themselves) a reason for the hope that lies within them 1st Peter 3:15 . The thing is, though, if I want those things for my children, I must be ready with my answers when they...

second law

Deuteronomy 6:6-7 (NIV) 6 These commandments that I give you today are to be upon your hearts. 7 Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up. Today this verse found its way to me and it really spoke to my heart. It is so specific about your children. We always say, jokingly, that there is no guidebook for children. I believe that the Bible really is. The last few months I have been more mindful of my children and their ever blossoming (beautiful, unique,) personalities. Anthony, my ever cautious, sensitive, compassionate boy. Irene, my tough, fun loving, daredevil little girl. So different from each other, so alike at the same time, each child as unique as a fingerprint but yet occupying the same hand. How do I raise these children? How do I not make a mistake? What happens when one method works on one child and not on another and you are fresh out of ideas? Yet, God doesn't make mis...
