Is it just me, or does my son resemble Gilbert Gottfried?

what's for dinner?

I have been wanting to create a menu plan for a very long time. When my favorite organizational blog posted about it, I thought, now or never. Of course, as you all could guess, my preference was for never. I should probably name this the "three day' weekly menu plan." Here is the link for their take on the weekly meal plan. I like that they have included an uncluttered--of course--template for you to use.

odd world

Image
An odd world, to me, is a world where a bowl of baby carrots and unsweetened green tea is a treat. But it is an odd world, after all, and today, they are indeed a treat. I have been eating better now for two weeks and I am craving water!!!??!? and fruits and Veggies!!??!?! And ...I am even thinking about exercise on a regular basis. And sometimes I even do it too. Will wonders never cease? Will my big rear never shrink? Should I be in bed right now? Does Edgard snore? Will I ever shut up? No. Yes. Undoubtedly. What? Sorry I can't hear the question over the loud, thunderous rumbling, emanating from the bed. And in answer to the last question, I will pose another. Has hades succumbed to freezing temperatures as of yet?

baby don't go

Tomorrow Edgard is going skiing with a work buddy and his son. And yes, Mexicans ski. They also play tennis, own dogs other than chihuahuas, and take off their sombreros to shower. At least, all that goes for Edgard. I am, of course, worried about him but he promised me he "wouldn't run into a tree like that Sonny and Cher guy." Oh that is good, because I wasn't at all referring to the icy drive up there. I am glad that he is going, since he usually has to work every Saturday. This will be a nice break for him. On the weight loss front, I had a terrible relapse at Christmas and ended up gaining weight. What can I say? I love food and hate exercise. Not exactly a recipe for slimness. But I am back at it and I will start regularly updating you again, very soon. I am not exactly ready at this moment. But rest assured, I am doing well regaining (bad choice of words) ground in the fight against my lardishness. I gave up drinking Pepsi One---I think the as...

SPLAT!!!

So there I was fixing my dinner, after a stint on the treadmill. Anyone who has ever walked on treadmill knows, that after you get off, your equilibrium can tend to be a bit off . And sure enough...my equilibrium was a bit off. This proves what I have always said. Nothing good comes from exercising.

vlogging my weight

Firstly I want to thanks you all for sticking with me during my blogging dry spell. I also appreciate your comments more than you know. Now onto the horrid youtube vlog update. If you notice, I ended up getting a better spot to film in. Much better lighting...sorry to all you folks who now have to look at me. Here I am in all my dweebocity.

full force

I am back. Not quite full force, though. I found myself stretched too thin, so I am instituting some changes. I love reading blogs. This is what prompted me to start my own in the first place. Well, that and the fact that I think out my life in written form--I always have. We bloggers are crazy like that. Anyhoo---I love reading blogs but I stopped a few days a go because I felt completely overwhelmed. Not only am I a wife and mother of two , but I am also a homeschool teacher to my son and primary housekeeper here at the ranch . So my computer time is limited. I found that I was spending so much time writing comments on other blogs that I was losing a lot of the time that I had to write my own. So, I am cutting waaaayyy back on my commenting. Please don't feel as if I am disappearing altogether, I am still there reading just the same. If you look at my blogroll, it is a long one. It is not reciprocal---I read every single one. I just ...

salud, paz y amor

I have no idea how I do it. One moment I am ready to throw in the towel and am feeling utterly hopeless----the next moment I am able and willing to tackle whatever comes my way. What is wrong with me??? Or, what is right with me. I hate that I get completely despondent but then I always surprise myself that I bounce right back. So I guess I am thankful that I can't ever seem to get too beaten down. My husband and I talked this weekend about our goals and what we hope to accomplish. Unfortunately, some of the steps will be backwards so that we can regain some of the ground that we lost, but then, it is moving forward from there on in. Of course, weight came into that, and I can see that my weight and our debt is very interconnected. We are both very much instant gratification people. We need to learn to be delayed gratification people. Very hard to relearn a personality trait, but we need to, for the sake of our future and our children's future . We are off to...

where am I...so far? day one

Image
So to recap on my first day I wills start out by sharing a comment I got from Literary Girl . My first thought when I read this was that you needed more concrete goals on the first ones...get up early? How early? What time? What time do you want to go to bed? Do you want me to call you at 10pm and say "goodnighty!" ? Even #3, how about shoot for 20 minutes a day or even 15? I think she brings up some very valid points. Getting up and going to bed early is relative to each person. For example: if my best friend made a goal to get up earlier and go to bed earlier she would be up by 4 and in bed by 7. My normal sleep hours run generally from 4 A.M. to 9 A.M. But I want to really see what my body will do with a proper amount of sleep. So let me get more specific with my goals. go to bed by 10:00 p.m.---just about to do that get up by 8:00 A.M.---I know...I am a wimp... baby steps study my bible---I am now officially in Numbers. no not this ... this ! take vitamins dai...

seven days instead of three

I am curious to try a little experiment. What would happen if procrastinator girl----that's me---tried to live for seven days, doing everything correctly. That is, to say, fulfilling every goal I have set for myself, each and every day. Would I crack the first day? Would I make it past three days ? What I would hope, is that I could make it for the entire seven and see some good results, weight loss wise, and maybe even have a few of the things stick. I can't possibly get any worse, right? So to give you an idea of some of the goals that I am talking about, I will make a little list. go to bed early (this is such a hard one for me) get up early (even worse) study my bible (I love what I learn and how I feel with this one) take vitamins daily (this makes me nauseated) exercise for at least 30 min. a day (no comment) drink all my water (94 freaking ounces) eat between 1200-1400 calories daily do one organizing project daily clean and pick up house regularly (yep-...

time to weigh in

Sorry for my absence....I even missed book love weekend. Shame on me. Maybe now I will post one during the week. Was that celebratory yelling or a collective derision? So on to weigh in Monday---does that not win the prize for lamest name ever? Let me try again. "Fatty breaks the scale weigh in Monday" or "jiggly fun weigh in Monday" or "no I am not pregnant-it is all me and I can't believe you just asked me that weigh in Monday". SO what ever it is called...here we go: To refresh your memory . I m working on a goal with Mamacita Chilena to lose 15 pounds in two months. Here is where I stand. last week:189 this morning:188.5 loss for this week: 0.5 days left: 39 pounds left to lose for the goal: 9 ...and by the way, don't bother to check my fitday . I haven't updated in the last 3 or 4 days. Why then did I give you a link to it? I don't know. I just like linking people to places . By the way...if you are Mamaci...

chile vs. united states---who will lose?

Actually---both. We hope. I have started a little friendly competition with a fellow blogger . She personally has 15 pounds to lose until she is at her goal weight. I, on the other hand, have around 1500. Well, maybe not quite that much, but still considerably more than 15 pounds. I have had trouble starting on my way to weight loss. Many false starts. My thinking was, that if I could lose 15 pounds, then it would be the heartening startup I need to continue losing weight. I knew that Mamacita Chilena, of the above mentioned blog, was wanting to lose those last 15 pounds and I wanted my jump start---and that is why I asked her if she might be willing to join me in losing them together. My proposed plan was to lose 15 lbs in two months. A nice do-able goal. If we were successful, then she would be done and I would continue on with a new goal from there. She agreed---so we then dusted off our fitday account s and got started. Here is where I am at so ...

a pizza and week two

Last Monday (week 2): 191 Today:191 Loss for this week: 0 pound I will accept a no gain/no loss weigh-in. I had a bad weekend as my fitday account will show. I couldn't exercise on Saturday because I babysat 2 children from 12:00p.m.-9:00p.m. Although, four children total, for nine hours was exercise in itself. On Sunday, I bow my head in shame and admit that I could have exercised and ate well and simply did not. I plan to exercise everyday this week excepting possibly this Wednesday. Wednesday is Anthony's first day back to AWANA. We are all excited about that. This will be his fourth year. We hope that he can continue in it until he graduates from high school. The other days should be workable to fit in some exercise. But I will also challenge myself to include Wednesday in this, as well. I also have to give a huge congratulations to Groovybabe , who has reached and surpassed the 100 day mark on her way to changing her life. You should check her out if you ...

fitday: week one

So I am starting my weigh-in, all new....again. I am so frustrated with all the ups and downs and I really had thought that I could solve that by airing my dirty laundry here...on my blog. Not so, apparently. I still eat with wild abandon regardless of how embarrassed I will be on weigh-in Monday. So here I am on my way down again. Needing a miracle. I know that I can lose weight. Last year taught me that. I also learned that it is purely a mental thing. If your head is in the right place...then eating differently will be an easy choice and once you start registering a loss, then you have another mental reason to keep going with it. Well I don't know what the answer is. I need everything to click back into place so that I can start losing... again ...for the LAST time! That being said: This is my first week anniversary of using fitday. I love it! It is easy to use and has all those great graph and pie charts. I have recorded everything regardless of if I did well...

good to know

We don't need to ask ourselves where genius comes from. We simply need to avail ourselves of it when we are lucky enough to have it cross our path. As you may remember, I am now using FitDay . A friend let me know, in the comment section, a little (read: freaking important) tip about Fitday . I would like to repeat it here. oh yeah, and one thing about fitday...you should enter in the amount of hours you sleep every day under activities, because otherwise fitday calculates the amount of calories you're burning as if you were awake 24 hours a day! I would say that is important to know so all of you that use fitday and read my blog...take note! Thanks Mamacita Chilena from your friend Mamacita Raquelin. Oh, and one last thing...this is where my sleeping an average of 4 hours a night is finally gonna payoff!

my new commitment

I am taking a page out of Melodee's book and signing up for a FitDay account . I originally used a different web page to record my foodery but FitDay is, by far, the most user-friendly. I especially love the small do-able goals that you can set for yourself. Oh yes, and the big blue dot on the graph that tells me I am "severe overweight". That is just the added bonus. So I have a link to my personal food journal on the side and here it is again just for the heck of it!! www.fitday.com

two steps forward, one step back.

last week: 187.5 today: 190 gained: 2.5 lbs I have nobody to blame but myself. And McDonald's. But they didn't force me. So no one but myself. But they have those fetching golden arches . Not to mention Ronnie McDonnie . But no...I still chose to waddle my overlarge tail in there and order a happy meal. Yes. I said happy meal. My dieter's compromise. So I guess I have nobody to blame but myself.

weigh in

first week 194.5 last week 188 today 187.5 pounds lost last week 0.5 total pounds lost 7.0 I hope that I can try harder and give you some spectacular results next week. I am going to add some physical exercise in. One step at a time. At this point I am feeling totally uninspired! Tonight I have a ladies night out with a group of stay at home moms and a pedicure with my best friend Susie. If that doesn't inspire me...nothing will!

well ain't that just grand

So I would like to introduce you to my diet buddy. I just have to say, right off the bat, that I don't in any way like shrek, or anything to do with shrek---I like my humor clever, not crude---but when my daughter, Irene, got this toy in her happy meal, I took it away intending to toss it out. It was then that I realized that there was something familiar about the pudgy body and round face with red hair. She looks just like my future. If I gain anything else---I will look like this. This can not happen. There still is time---I do not resemble this---yet. I decided right then and there that I would leave this toy on my desk to remind me of what I am working to avoid. Flash forward two weeks later. My daughter wants to play with mommy's toy. She cannot reach it. Mommy realizes her minion Anthony is close by and can fetch it for Irene---thus avoiding the problem of mommy expending any unnecessary energy. Hey...we are all trying to do our part to keep things gr...

a little weight related update...

I haven't gone down a size (I am a size 14) but I am happy all the same. The reason, is because I finally fit into the size that I have been masquerading as all this time. No more muffin top !! I have not lost too much, but apparently it was all that was making me spill over the top of my jeans. I will take that as a victory! I will let you know when I muffin top my way into size twelve.
